General Information

The Organising Committee accepts submissions of abstracts of original contributions on any topic related to the technical program themes set out below. If you wish to submit an abstract for consideration, you must follow the instructions outlined below.

Review of Submissions

Abstracts, followed by full papers will be reviewed by the Technical Committee, and acceptances will be given subject to one author presenting the paper at the conference. Authors will be expected to attend the conference to present their papers in person.

Abstract Submission Procedures / Instructions

All abstracts must be prepared according to the guidelines provided. Incomplete or incorrect submissions will be returned to the author and must be resubmitted immediately in the correct format to be considered for inclusion in the program.

Abstracts will not be accepted via fax, email or on disk/CD.

Acceptance Criteria for Abstracts

Abstracts must be up to 250 words outlining the purpose, methods, results, and conclusions of the paper. It is important that abstracts communicate ideas effectively and use standard English. Authors whose first language is not English may be counselled on correct spelling / punctuation / grammar.

Abstracts must be relevant to the outlined themes of the conference as provided above. Authors must provide an indication of the stream they anticipate the paper to be accepted in.

Purpose: Is the scope of the issue provided, what is and why is it an issue? What is the historical background to the issue, and what is the impact of it?

Methods: The methodology, approach, and experimental design should be appropriately outlined and should include, if applicable, sample size and/or number of trials.

Results: an outline of results or findings should be provided.

Conclusion: key recommendations or arguments should be summarized.

Literature reviews without extracting new information not previously known are not acceptable.

Abstract format Guidelines


The abstract title should be short, informative and contain the major key words. It should be in Title Case, Arial, Bold, 12 pt size, and left and right justified.


Abstract Titles should be followed by authors' first initial and last name (with the presenting author in bold). Superscript numbers must be used to indicate the authorís institution, followed by city, state and country (in this order). Do not include degrees or professional titles (e.g. Dr, Prof., etc).

Oral Presentations: Audiovisual Equipment

Please note that for all oral presentations only Data Projection (PowerPoint) will be available for use by speakers.

Poster Presentations

Posters will be a part of the extensive program and will be displayed within the Exhibition area.

For those selected to present their abstract in a Poster format, it is expected that one of the presenting authors be present at their poster during poster viewing opportunities.

Instructions on the preparation of poster displays will be sent to authors upon notification of the abstractís acceptance.
